Upcoming Chinese historical drama Dancing with the Tide, starring Lu Yu Xiao and Tan Jian Ci, has entered production.
The historical C-drama Dancing with the Tide has kicked off filming and unveiled its main Drama Adaptation cast lineup. The series is adapted from the popular novel of the same Chinese title by Xian Yu Ke.
The story is unfolds against the backdrop of Lidu Prefecture, where enemy forces lay siege from the outside, while hidden spies move in the shadows within. As the dynasty edges toward collapse, Xie Que Shan — accused as a traitor — hunts Nan Yi, who has unintentionally stolen a secret letter.
In order to maintain control, Xie Que Shan keeps Nan Yi within the Xie residence — only for her to unexpectedly glimpse the secrets hidden beneath the “mask.”
Xie Que Shan is a general who walks into shadow, protecting his country with courage while enduring the weight of misunderstandings and standing alone.
Nan Yi is a tough and resilient woman who moves from struggling for survival to finding faith, shedding her former self, and transforming amid turmoil and disorder.
At the launch event, Tan Jian Ci commented, “I feel I’ve come across a role that will be unforgettable. I’m truly grateful to be able to play Xie Que Shan.”
Lu Yu Xiao also shared her affection for the role, saying, “I really love Nan Yi. She has a toughness that can take root deep in the earth, and also a gentleness that grows toward the sun.”
The C-drama stars Lu Yu Xiao as Nan Yi and Tan Jian Ci as Xie Que Shan. Starring alongside them are Zhao Zhao Yi, Yin Hao Yu, Cao Jun, and Xu Zheng Xi. Li Meng appears as a specially invited starring lead, Ye Zu Xin joins in a special surprise role, He Qiu takes on a special starring role, Chen Shu makes a special appearance, Wang Jin Song appears as a specially invited guest, Zhou Cheng Ao joins as a specially invited starring actor, and Zheng Ye Cheng makes a cameo appearance.
